Let’s Begin

After your baby is born

If your baby is born at one of our affiliated hospitals, simply notify your OB and hospital staff that you have chosen Ocean Pediatrics as your child’s pediatrician. They will kindly notify our office that your baby has been born. After you return home, schedule your baby’s first visit within 3 days of hospital discharge.

Your baby’s first visit

Before you make your journey home, the hospital staff will inform you when to schedule your baby’s first checkup with a provider, around 3-5 days after birth. At your first visit, we check your baby’s weight and vital signs, conduct a full exam, and provide breastfeeding resources. During your appointment, we will ensure that your newborn is feeding well, having appropriate stools, and look for any signs of jaundice.

Please be sure to:

  • Bring along your insurance card and discharge paperwork.

  • Enroll your newborn in your insurance plan within 30 days of their birth.

We encourage all of our parents to speak with their insurance provider or human resources department to fully understand their newborn coverage.

Here are a few of the questions we commonly get asked and the answers you deserve!

Yes! We have providers on call 24/7 every day of the year, including doctor phone call coverage throughout the night. We also plan to offer weekend office hours on both Saturdays and Sundays for same-day sick visits.

Yes, one of our pediatricians will be available for same-day sick visits

All of our physicians are board certified pediatricians and fellows of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

During your hospital stay, one of our pediatricians will examine your newborn every morning after delivery.

We certainly do! Your Ocean Pediatrics provider will guide you through any and all concerns with nutrition, sleep, behavior, and development.

Yes! Just a few of the complimentary classes we offer include New Parents, Breastfeeding, Infant/Child CPR, and Intro into Solids.

Yes, we provide separate waiting rooms to support the best health of all of our patients.

Ocean Pediatrics follows the guidelines of the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics. We will work with parents requesting an alternative schedule, and those willing to accept at least some vaccines, to provide a safe and effective vaccine schedule.

Before your first visit, we encourage all of our parents to take their time and prepare questions for your pediatrician. If you have any additional questions you’d like answered right away, please do not hesitate to reach out!
